Granados Escenas romanticas
Escenas románticas (Romantic Scenes) was published circa 1904 and instantly became a staple of the catalán composer's performances. It is said that Granados was inspired to write this set of pieces by his affaire with María Oliveró, a young girl who attended his piano academy. It has also been said that Amparo, Granados' wife, knew the true meaning of the set's title and disliked the pieces. The Epilogo (Epilogue) carries the indication 'with poetic exaltation', and is marked Andantino spianato, identical to Chopin's Grand Polonaise first bars.
