I downloaded the audio file of the above recording, which was labeled as being public domain and free of copyright restrictions, but when I used it in a video and uploaded it to YouTube, I got a copyright claim notice which I disputed. What is going on here? Is this recording public domain or not? Am I allowed to use this recording in this way without UMG putting ads on my video, which I don't want?

Hello, I downloaded this track to use it as background music in my videos for educational purposes, since it is marked here as a CC and PD audio. However, TikTok has muted my posts because, apparently, this track is not considered public domain and in fact appears in their music library. May I request a further review of the track? I am opening a dispute but I would like to be 100% sure that I am not in the wrong. I have seen that I am not the first one to face this issue, and I know that YouTube’s algorithm and others sometimes behave oddly, but since I found the exact same audio in TikTok’s own library, there are only two possibilities: either they are profiting unfairly, or this track is indeed not in the public domain. Thank you in advance for your reply.

I think this is an issue of YouTube. I did the same and got message that music is licensed but the license is not a problem for public streaming of my video. It looks like they sort it out since you had the same issue. With Instagram/Facebook (Meta) it is all different story. They mislabel songs from this site for some other performers and block publishing. Shame on them...
