Tchaikovsky String Quartet no. 1, Op. 11

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky completed his String Quartet no. 1 in D major, Op. 11, in 1871. It was premiered in Moscow that same year by four members of the Russian Musical Society: Ferdinand Laub and Ludvig Minkus in violins; Pryanishnikov and Wilhelm Fitzenhagen, in viola and cello respectively.
