Ava Nazar Музика

Born in Tehran, Iran, Ava Nazar has performed as soloist and chamber musician in her home country at the Niavaran Cultural Center, Roudaki Hall, and Vahdat Hall; and in New York at the Manhattan School of Music, Lerner Hall (Columbia University), and Cell Theatre. She has also been featured at Académies Internationales d'été du Grand Nancy in France. Among her awards in Iran are prizes in the Music Festival for Youth, the Fajr International Music Festival, the Nationwide Festival of Music Academies, the Music Festival for University Students and the Biennial Piano Competition of New Music. Ms. Nazar released her first CD, Memoires from the conservatory, in 2008 in Iran, which includes recordings of Violin concertos by Oskar Rieding and Ferdinand Küchler accompanied on the Piano. Beyond performing, Ms. Nazar teaches Persian language to Iranian American children at Pardis for Children, a community school in New York City. The themes for classes are inspired by Persian folklore and expressions. Children learn Persian vocabulary and are exposed to different aspects of the culture through discovery, music, play, and storytelling. Ava Nazar has been playing the piano since she was 4 years old. She graduated from Music School of Tehran in 2008, where she was selected as the top performer. Ms. Nazar received her bachelor’s degree at Manhattan School of Music, where she worked with Donn-Alexandre Feder. She is currently pursuing a master of music degree at the Juilliard School under the guidance of Jonathan Feldman and Margo Garrett as a recipient of a Betty & Daniel Bloomfield Fund Scholarship.
