Alfonso Cipollone showed from an early age his passion for music led him to study piano in Lanciano with Maestro Francesco Masciangelo, and then he was transfered to Naples to the College of San Pietro a Majella, where he studied harmony and counterpoint with Michele Ruta. In 1870, after graduation, he moved permanently to Teramo, where he began its main activity, teaching. He was a professor of voice and piano respectively at the Regia Scuola Normale "Giannina Milli" and at the National College "Melchiorre Delphic." He practiced teaching also privately. His teaching was always accompanied and supported by an prolific and varied compositional activity that enabled him to achieve great editorial success and audience. To him are attributed to more than one thousand songs. Most of his compositions are short pieces written for the pianr These are mostly dances as the polka, waltz or mazurkas, lyrical pieces, as serenades, and lullabies.
