Jacques Christian Michel Widerkehr l'aîné was an Alsatian composer and cellist of the classicalera. He was born in Strasbourg in 1759 and began his career as a freelance cellist in Paris in 1783. His oboe sonatas were composed around 1794. He is best known for his instrumental compositions, especially symphonies concertantes for several wind instruments, or wind sinfonias.[2] He claimed to be a student of Dumonchau, professor of the cello in Strasbourg and father of the pianist Charles-François Dumonchau.
