He was composer of dance music and researcher of local musical history in Puerto Rico. He was the son of the musician Sandalio Callejo and Ocasio, remarkable teacher of music and conductor, with him learned to love this art, and Juana de Dios Ferré and Gutierrez.
In the year 1870 he creates in Bayamón a music academy.
