Waltzes, Op. 69

Frédéric Chopin wrote his Waltz in A flat major, Op. 69 no. 1, in 1835. It was apparently conceived as a farewell piece to Maria Wodzinska, to whom he had been enganged. It is thus known as the Farewell waltz, or Valse de l'adieu. Several versions of the manuscript exist. The Waltz no. 2 in B minor seems to have been written earlier, around 1829, but it was only published after Chopin's death.
