Johannes wrote and published his set of three Intermezzi, Op. 117, in 1892. These pieces are smaller and more intimate in character than the Op. 116, 118, and 119 sets, and display a more subtle and less virtuous writing. A complete performance of the whole set takes around 16 minutes.
