Ravel String Quartet in F major

Maurice Ravel composed his String quartet in F major in 1903. The work has four movements: the opening movement, in sonata form, presents two themes that are later reused in the work. A playful scherzo second movement is followed by a lyrical slow movement. The finale reintroduces themes from the earlier passages and ends the work vigorously. The piece was premiered in Paris in March 1904.
