Suk Serenade for strings in E flat major, Op. 6

Josef Suk wrote his Serenade for Strings in E flat major, Op. 6, in 1892. While studying at the Prague Conservatory, he was adviced by Dvorak to try and write some light music, as al of his works showed a prominent melancholic strain. Two movements of the Serenade were publicly conducted by Suk 1893 in Tábor. The first complete performance was conducted by Antonín Bennewitz on 25 February 1895, at the Prague Conservatory.
