Schumann Symphony no. 1 in B-flat major 'Spring', Op. 38

Symphony No. 1 in Bb, Op. 38 ("Spring") was the first symphonic work composed by Schumann. Although he had made some attempts soon after he married Clara Wieck, he did not compose his First Symphony until early 1841. Schumann sketched the symphony in four days and completed the orchestration within a month. It was premiered by Mendelssohn in Leipzig, and warmly received by a public that, up to that point, had kown him for his piano and voice works only. The last movement uses the final theme of Kreisleriana, recalling the romantic and fantastic inspiration of this work.
