Theophil Forchhammer was a Swiss church musician, organist and composer. Forchhammer was considered an important concert organist and organ improviser. He composed about 1800 chorale preludes, of which are published only a part, also Choralbearbeitungen, fantasies and sonatas for organ, piano works a piano trio, the oratorio "Queen Louise" and a setting of Psalm 130 for soloists, chorus and orchestra and piano arrangements of symphonic pieces of Franz Liszt. With Bernhard Kothe he published in 1890 a guide to the organ literature.
