Piero Benedetti Sheet Music

  • Born: 1585
  • Died: 14th July 1649
  • Birthplace: Florence, Italy

Piero Benedetti was an Italian composer. He was a court chaplain in Florence, a member of the Accademia degli Elevati and from 1630 a canon of S Lorenzo. All his surviving compositions are songs. The extremes of style in his three books of Musiche (1611-17) are clear examples of musical mannerism: they are characterized by harsh, often unprepared dissonances, unusual harmonic progressions, erratic rhythms and striking declamatory passages.
