Hermann Richard Wenzel was a German composer. Wenzel was born in December 1863 as the son of Damastwebers and amateur musician Carl Gottfried Wenzel in Grossschönau. His musical talent was already evident in his youth, when he entered at the age of eleven in the church choir. The cantor of his hometown recognized the talent and gave him lessons in counterpoint and organ.
