Henri-Montan Berton Was a French Composer, writer, teacher. Born into a musical family, he received his first music lessons from his father Pierre-Montan (1727-17810), singer, conductor, director of the Paris Opera, involved in the fierce quarrel puccinistes and Gluckists. He would have known to read music at the age of six years and played the piano and violin.
