Claude Bernicat Firmin was born in Lyon, January 13, 1842. It was probably in his hometown where the young man began his musical studies before going to Paris in the mid-1860s. It was probably admitted to the Conservatoire. In delicate health, he died in Asnières March 5, 1883 when he began to make a name in the field of operetta.
