Antonio Jose Cappa was an Andalusian composer and conductor. Between 1888 and 1890, in this city he began studying music, which he perfected in the conservatory of Naples, while he composed and premiered the oratorio Il Pianta Israel , which was very celebrated. Later he moved to Barcelona, debuting at the Lyceum Theatre with great success opera Giovanna di Castiglia (1848). That same year he married the soprano Amalia Muñoz. He traveled later as a director of an opera company to several French cities, but he had to interrupt his travels forced to return to his hometown because of urgent family business. There he founded the Philharmonic Society.
