Albert Dean was a French musician. He began his musical studies at the École Niedermeyer and continued at the Paris Conservatoire, where he was a pupil of Charles-Marie Widor in composition. He was particularly sensitive to social issues and, aware of the educational value of music, he wanted to spread it among the people. In 1907, he joined the community of the "Abbaye de Créteil", founded by Georges Duhamel and Charles Vildrac. This group brought together poets, writers, musicians and painters (as Albert Gleizes). In 1917, he founded Les Fêtes du peuple, a workers' choir. Resolutely popular, the choir was completed by an orchestra. The first performance of this set took place for a birthday from the Paris Commune; it was followed by more than two hundred concerts. Some attracted more than four hundred people. The last concert of this orchestra took place in 1939. In 1919, he organized a Day of Remembrance in memory of Jean Jaurès.
