Euryanthe, Op. 81

Euryanthe is the title of an opera by written by Carl Maria von Weber, and first performed in 1823 in Vienna. Although it is one of Weber's most popular pieces, it is very rarely put on stage because of its weak libretto (which comes from the same author as Rosamunde, Schubert failed play). Only the overture is regularly played today. The opera itself is notable for parting with the singspiel tradition, in which spoken dialogue would interrumpt the musical scenes.
