Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30

Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30 (Thus spoke Zarathustra) is a tone poem by Richard Strauss, composed and premiered in 1896 and inspired by Nietzsche novel of the same name.  Since its first public performance, the work has been part of the standard orchestra repertoire: the initial fanfare (dubbed sunrise) became particularly well known to the public after Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: a space odyssey made use of it. A typical performance lasts half an hour.
