Nuages gris, S. 199

Franz Liszt composed the single-movement Nuages Gris (French for 'Grey Clouds'), also known as Trübe Wolken, in 1881. In his later years Liszt departed from his purely virtuoso style and composed several pieces that may be described as 'experimental'. Nuages Gris is one of these: a quite short and technically simple piece with a performance time of only 3 minutes, which conveys a very particular mood.
