Japanese-born pianist Shizue Sano has given many solo and chamber music recitals in the United States, Japan, and Europe. She has appeared as a soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic, and Uccle Philharmonic of Belgium.  She has recorded Sonata by Franz Liszt and Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin (Pavane Record), and the complete Preludes by Chopin (Japan Victor). Her performances have been broadcast on stations WGBH, Connecticut Public Radio, NHK, Belgium National Radio, Cultural Radio of Japan, Nagoya TV, Chita Medias Network and others. She has won many awards in competitions. Among these are the Simone Belsky Music Award in Connecticut, the Second Prize and the Liszt Special Award at St. Nom-la-Bréteche in France, and the JAA Music Award on New York. Ms. Sano holds a Bachelor of Music from Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma, both with high distinction, from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Her teachers include Gyorgy Sebok, Edward Auer, Victor Rosenbaum, and Sadako Matsuoka.
