Federico Guzmán Frías was a Chilean pianist and composer of Romantic tradition. As an interpreter he enoyed succes in Europa and South America. As a composer he wrote more than 200 pieces, and over 50 of them were pubished in Europe, Brazil, Perú and Chile: notable among these were his Zamacueca, and his Elegia for voice and piano, as well as a number of mazurkas, polonesas, waltzes and songs. He worked as a teacher in Argentina and Brazil.
