How Much Should You Spend On An Engagement Ring?

How much you spend on an engagement ring should be based on your budget. Yes, I know, you want to get the most special engagement ring in the entire world, and trust me, it will be. What's most important is the two of you coming together and the ring symbolizing that unity. That doesn't mean you shouldn't take your time and get a really nice ring because you should. What it does mean, however, is that you don't want to go into debt because you think you have to get an engagement ring according to a particular standard.

The love of your life is going to love any ring you get no matter what. It is going to be the most special ring ever, no matter what. Trust me on that. It is about you and your partner wanting to spend the rest of your lives together, and that is what your partner will be thinking about. Oh yes, the ring is important, too. It is a prize possession that will make your partner think of you over and over and over again. But you don't have to feel like you have to spend a ton of money on an engagement ring. So how much should you spend?

Yes, there are certain types of guidelines that people look at to keep them buying the best but not breaking the budget. What do I say? I say throw the guidelines out the window. Spend what you feel comfortable spending. People have different budgets and ideas. I saw one site that recommends you spend two months salary on an engagement ring, meaning if you make 2500, you spend 5000. Say what?

That is a lot of money. I personally think people overdo it big time in order to stick to a standard. Of course, if I were buying an engagement ring, I would want to overdo it just like everyone else. However, I want to pose a thought to you. If you were to be the recipient, how would you view the matter? You would be fine with any ring if you are in love. Trust your partner to think the same way, too, and spend whatever is comfortable for you. Trust your partner to know what that is, too.
