<p>Dr. Thomas Conroy teaches harmony and musicianship at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He joined the conservatory faculty in fall of 2009. He created a new course on the music of Olivier Messiaen and teaches advanced musicianship and composition for the conservatory preparatory division. During the past several years, while living in Houston, Dr. Conroy maintained an active private teaching studio. He employs the wrist-rotation (Taubman) approach with private piano students. He has served on the faculties of Texas A &amp; M University and The Moores School of Music at the University of Houston teaching courses in harmony, counterpoint, music history, musical theater history, and analysis.</p>
<p>His homage to choral music teachers and choral singers: &quot;THIS IS WHY I SING&quot;, which was premiered by the Houston Chamber Choir in 2006, has been featured on NPR. </p>
<p>New works include &quot;THE BRODIE SET&quot; a song cycle based on Muriel Spark's novella, THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE.</p>
