About

At the age of six, I began taking piano lessons from a concert pianist. A few years later I studied with a graduate of the Julliard School of Music, who wanted me to prepare to do concert work. A big decision for a child...although my love for music and the piano was deep, there were so many things that I wanted to do, in addition to my music, that I declined. When I was eleven I took lessons from the Dean of Music at the local college where we lived. I was the only non-college student that the teacher had at that time. As a high school senior, I started giving piano lessons. Although In college I did not major in music, I did receive a teaching degree, which has been a great asset to my music. I have kept my music for enjoyment, relaxation, an outlet, therapy...and have shared it with many people over the years. Serving as church organist, teaching music in school K-12, accompanying choirs, vocal soloists and instrumentalists and teaching piano lessons are among the music experiences I have had.

My goal as a piano teacher is to help the student learn and develop this talent and skill in a way that is fun and enjoyable, so that they can experience, throughout their life, the joy that playing the piano can bring them.
