My first goal in teaching is to foster a life-long love of music in my students, both playing and listening. I begin with teaching the fundamentals -- good hand position, good intonation and rhythm, and a solid understanding of basic music theory. I often play along with my students, so they will learn what a violin should sound like. It's not easy to make the violin sing! As students progress, playing duets with me and in ensembles with other students is an important part of the curriculum. The real joy of music comes when you play with others.

I free-lance in the bay area, playing most of the San Francisco Ballet season, and subbing frequently with the San Francisco Opera and the Oakland East-Bay Symphony and others. I love playing chamber music and am a member of the Temescal String Quartet. Former member of the San Jose and Columbus (Ohio) Symphonies.
