Jose Avelino Canongia was a Portuguese Clarinetist. Kanonzhiya, along with pianist João Domingos Bomtempu considered one of the most important Portuguese virtuoso musicians beginning of the XIX century. He had a brilliant technique, during a tour of Germany, his skill is compared to Berman and Hermshtedta. At the same time, some critics noted in his game lack expressiveness and flexibility of sound.
