Louis-Julien Clarchies was a French dancer and musician born in Curacao. Excellent violinist, a pupil of Henri Capron and Giuseppe Cambini, he was the chief resident orchestra of the court balls under the First Empire and wrote thirty books of quadrilles, waltzes, and other pieces between 1800 and his death.
