Loreto Vittori was a poet, librettist, composer and one of the first Italian castrati singers. Discovered in Spoleto by Bishop Maffeo Barberini (later Pope Urban VIII), was sent to Rome in 1617. Here he became a pupil of Giovanni Bernardino Nanino and Francesco Soriano. He sang in Loreto and in his hometown, then he was a singer in the Sistine Chapel from 1622 to his death.
