Johann Heinrich Bonawitz was a German pianist and composer, of Polish origin, Bonawitz immagrated to America at an early age. He organised symphony concerts in New York City and produced two operas in Philadelphia during the 1870s, The Bride of Messina andOstrolenka. He composed other operas and moved to Vienna and then to London where he founded the Mozart Society.
