Frédéric-Nicolas Duvernoy was a french composer, hornist and musical educator. He is supposed to have started all by himself his horn as well as composition studies. In 1788 he entered l'Orchestre de la Comédie Italienne in Paris and in 1790 he became a part of la Musique des Gardes Françaises. He was admitted in l'Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris in 1797 and in 1801 he was chosen "to play the solos". Duvernoy has composed concerts for horn, concertant symphonies as well as chamber music with horn. He died in Paris and his portrait is to be found at the Musée de la Bibliothèque de l'Opéra.
