David Hermann Engel was a German organist and composer. He was pupil of Schneider in Dessau, and hesse in Brelsau. In 1848 he was organist in the cathedral and teacher in the Gymnasium at Merserberg Among his works there is a comic opera called Prins Carneval (premiered in Berlin in 1862), the oratorio Winfried, psalms and organ pieces. He also published a Choralbuch and Beitrag sur Geschichte des Orgelbauwesens in 1885.
