La bohème is an opera in four acts, composed in 1896 by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Scènes de la vie de bohème by Henri Murger. The opera was first performed on Turin on 1 February 1896 at the Teatro Regio, conducted by the young Arturo Toscanini. The average performance time of the full opera is 2 hours.
