This work counts amongst the so called spanish sonatas of Scarlatti. The thematic material creates offshots and returns several times, anticipating the compositional style of Beethoven's Moonlight sonata. In fact the passionate melody that opens the work reminds us of the romantic approach to the writing of piano melodies.
