Grieg Violin Sonata no. 1, Op. 8

Edvard Grieg wrote his Violin Sonata no. 1 in F major, Op. 8 in the summer of 1865, during a holiday with Benajmin Freddersen in Rungsted, Denmark, near Copenhagen. This work,a s well as his other violin sonatas, is considered a clear example of his musical nationalism, since it contains references to Norwegian folk songs.
