Zampa

Zampa, or the Marble Bride (fr.: Zampa, ou La fiancée de marbre) is the name of an opéra-comique in three acts written by composer Louis Joseph Ferdinand Hérold to a libretto by Anne-Honoré-Joseph Duveyrier de Mélésville. It was premiered in Paris in 1831, becoming very popular. It is estimated that by 1877 it had reached 500 performances. During the 20th century, however, it faded from the standard repertoire. The Overture is still considered one of Hérold most famous works.
