Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his String Quintet no. 6 in E flat major, K. 614, in 1791. Like all of Mozart's quintets for strings, it is a 'viola' quintet: that is to say it is scored for a standard string quartet plus an extra viola. It is also considered to be Mozart's last major chamber work.
