Johannes Brahms composed 5 Songs for piano and low voice, Op. 105, between 1886 and 1888. The set was partially premiered in 1887, when some of the pieces were still not finished, and then in 1888, the year it was published. The songs are based on text by poets Klaus Groth (1819–1899), Hermann Lingg (1820–1905), Detlev von Liliencron (1844–1909), and Carl von Lemcke (1831–1913). An average performance of the set lasts 14 minutes.
