Buxtehude Prelude in C major, BuxWV 137

The Prelude in C major, BuxWV 137 is a work by Dietrich Buxtehude. One of his most frequently played organ works, it was preserved in a collection of works copied by Johann Cristoph Bach. The prelude is remarkable for its form, featuring an extended pedal solo at the opening, and a chaccone section after the customary fugue. The theory has been raised that the prelude actually responds to a program.
