Gaspard Fritz was a Swiss composer and violinist. Son of a cellist, studied in Turin with Giovanni Battista Somis. He spent all his life in Geneva, where he developed an important educational activity. Attended foreign cultural circles, thanks to which his work was spread to Europe, where he got quite popular, especially in England. Violin virtuoso, most of his compositions are dedicated to this instrument.
