Brahms 5 studies, Anh. 1a/1

These pieces are arrangements by Brahms of well-known works for the piano, intended to be used as studies in technique. While valuable in technical study, their value as performance pieces was debated intially. Now they are seldom performed. 1. Arrangement of Chopin's Étude Op. 25, no. 2 with the right hand in double thirds and sixths.  2. The right hand and left hand have been reversed in this arrangement of the Finale from Weber's first Piano Sonata. 3.-4. This is the Presto from the Gm Sonata for solo violin by Bach arranged in two different versions. 5. The longest and of the set, arrangement of the Chaconne from the Dm Partita for solo violin by Bach for the left hand.
