John Church was an English composer. Lay vicar of Westminster Abbey 1697. Copyist for Westminster Abbey, and the Chapel Royal 1697 through the 1730s. Gentleman Extraordinary of the Chapel Royal replacing James Cobb 1697. Master of the Choristers of the Chapel Royal 1704-40. Published works: Divine Companion (1701); Harmonia Sacra (1703); Divine Harmony (1712); Introduction to Psalmody (1723)
