Felix August Emil Oskar von Rath was a German composer. He came from the wealthy industrial family Rhenish vom Rath, his father was Emil vom Rath, the secretary of Commerce. After graduating from law school, he finished his first courses in composition and piano with Max von Pauer and Carl Reinecke in Leipzig and with Giovanni Sgambati in Rome. He received private lessons in composition from Ludwig Thuille in Munich.
