Active in Milan, Italy
Dionigi Erba was a priest composer active in Milan between the seventeenth and eighteenth century.
Its origin can certainly be linked to the Erba family, ancient noble family originally from Como, then moved to Milan. There are no doubt about the contacts with Benedetto Erba Odescalchi, archbishop of Milan in 1712 and cardinal the following year.
With regard to his musical activity, the earliest date that can be established certainty is that of 1692, when he was appointed choirmaster at the Church of St. Francis in Milan.
