Dimitrie Florescu, also known as D. G. Florescu was a Romanian composer and singer . He played an important role in the founding of Bucharest Conservatory. It is said that he was one of the first authors of Romanian pop music (romances, patriotic songs). Perhaps his most famous composition is the romance "Steluța", lyrics by Alecsandri (translated by Clavel for the French edition of the score, printed by Constantin Gebauer).
