Charles-Joseph Colin was a French oboist, organist, music teacher and composer. Colin wrote 8 technically demanding solos de Concours, which are still played in oboe competitions. In 1983 this whole work was performed by the students of the oboe class at the University of Washington. In addition, Colin wrote a Grande Fantaisie concertante for Oboe and Orchestra, and some church music, including a Mass, which was performed in 1879 in Lille, an O salutaris for tenor and soprano, an Ave verum for mixed choir and an Andante religioso for Harmonium and pieces for harmonium and piano.
