Arthur Battelle Whiting was an american composer and pianist. Arthur Whiting, studied at the New England Conservatory with Sherwood and Chadwick and later at the Munich Conservatorium with Josef Rheinberger, Bussmayer and Abel. From 1885 to 1895 Arthur Whiting lived in Boston, devoting himself chiefly to composition. Since 1895 he has lived in New York, and since 1907 he has been largely occupied with the giving of concerts of chamber music designed to be definitely educational. His Expositions are a regular feature at Harvard, Yale and Princeton Universities.
